Improving the lives of children with special needs
The P&G Open Minds programme is part of P&G’s Live, Learn and Thrive global corporate cause that focuses the philanthropic efforts of P&G’s brands, employees and corporate foundation on improving life for children in need, from infancy to 13 years old. In Malaysia, Open Minds was established in 1999 to improve the lives of children with special needs such as autism, cerebral palsy and dyslexia, we focus primarily on providing educational opportunities. Over the last decade, P&G Malaysia through Open Minds, has contributed more than RM7 million, benefitting more than 7,000 special children in the country.
In March 2010, at the milestone 10th anniversary celebration of Open Minds, we pledged another RM1 million to build multi-sensory therapy rooms at 40 community-based child rehabilitation centers across Malaysia. In partnership with the Social Welfare Department and endorsed by the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development, our goal is to touch the lives of another 1,000 children when the rooms are completed by end 2010.
Follow us in our journey in improving the lives of more special children, in more parts of Malaysia, more completely, now and for generations to come.
